Support Student Council Valentine Fundraiser
Valentine’s Day is on its way, which means Val-O-Grams are in season! The Student Council is selling hand-crafted Valentine’s grams with treats attached. The proceeds of this fundraiser will go to the American Cancer Society. Students and teachers will receive the grams during school Valentine’s Day celebrations on Friday, February 10. Salamanders attend play in honor of Black History Month
This month, the Cultural Arts Committee brought Discovery Theater, the Smithsonian Institution's theater for children to perform "How Old is a Hero" at our school. This play tells the stories of three young activists— Ernest Green of the Little Rock Nine, Claudette Colvin, and Ruby Bridges and featured archival Civil Rights recordings.

Applying for Immersion at SSIMS
For those of you whose children will be entering 6th grade for the 2012-2013 school, you need to fill out a COSA form (Change Of School Assignment). This must be done as of February 1 and should be turned in to your home Middle School. COSAs will be accepted automatically, but siblings must also follow this procedure.
Clip Your Snider's Receipts!
If you have any Snider's receipts from 2011 lying around, please bring them into the school. Snider's Super Foods will donate 1% of the total amount submitted to the Sligo Creek PTA. 2011 Receipts must be sent c/o Painless Fundraising by the end of February.
