Afterschool General Information
Classes are first come, first serve using our online registration site. Please sign up as soon as you can so you and your child can get the class he or she wants. If a class reaches capacity or if there are not enough students for a class, you will be notified and asked if another class is an option.
Confirmation Letters. Once the registration period closes, children will be assigned to classes. Each applicant’s family will be notified. A confirmation letter will be e-mailed to you by September 23, 2011.
Transition from SCES to After School Program. All After School Program activities are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., immediately after the regular school day ends. The children will be dismissed from their SCES class to their After School Program activity. Younger children are assisted at the beginning of the program. All SCES teachers will be provided a list of their students participating in After School Program activities. It is helpful if parents send a reminder note to their child’s SCES teacher the first day your child is participating in an After School Program activity.
Snacks. After School Program activity leaders are encouraged to allow the students a few minutes for a snack. Students should bring a snack to eat before the After School Program activity begins. A healthy snack of “brain food” is preferred.
Participation Etiquette. A few rules apply to program participation. Students must attend class regularly, participate in activities, and exhibit proper school behavior. Parents must pick up students promptly at the end of class in the classroom. We do not have arrangements for childcare past the scheduled time that the class ends (except for Sligo Creek Child Development Center students). To ensure that the program can continue to operate successfully, children whose parents are late may be ineligible for future classes.
Cancellations. After School Program activities may be affected by weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. If SCES classes are cancelled or children are dismissed early, all After School Programs will be cancelled. We will attempt to reschedule classes, but if classes cannot be rescheduled, there will be no refunds. The PTA reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment. After School Program activities will not be held on half-days or days when school is not in session.
