French Immersion celebrates 35 years
Salamanders celebrated the French Immersion program's 35th anniversary in June 2011.
| French Immersion at Sligo Creek Elementary SchoolMontgomery County Public Schools has the distinction of housing the oldest French Immersion program in the nation. Founded in 1974, the program has been a model for many other state programs, most recently the state of Utah. French Immersion serves over 700 students in grades K-8 in Montgomery County, many of whom will then be able to move onto AP French or the International Baccalaureate program. All Montgomery County students have equal access to French Immersion as enrollment is determined by lottery.
