Every year the PTA organizes fun, informative, and exciting events at our school to give parents and kids opportunities to get to know each other, participate in school life, and find out what is going on. Keep track of all important dates and events at Sligo Creek Elementary School on the School Website or consider purchasing our new and glossy calendar featuring children's artwork and important SCES dates. If you have any questions about school dates and events, please contact the PTA Secretary.
IMPORTANT: 2nd and 3rd grade musical performances are being rescheduled because of the snow closures. Please stay tuned for future updates.

We want to draw your attention to a few important school and PTA dates this quarter. Do note that we always need volunteers to pull off events. If you can lend a hand, please contact the Events Committee.
March 5 First Grade Musical Performance for Parents 12:45 pm to 1:30 pm
March 6 (Rescheduled from February 6)
Join parents from Sligo Creek ES at a private Wine Symposium at the
Pyramid Atlantic Art Gallery in Silver Spring. Washington Post Wine
Columnist David McIntyre will offer parents and faculty some great
tips on choosing affordable American wines and pairing them with
food. All proceeds of the adults-only event will support the PTA's
10-year Anniversary fundraising campaign for Sligo Creek ES.

March 8-17 MSA tests for grades 3-5. For more information click here.
March 25 French Immersion Open House from 9:30 am to 10:45 am
Open house for families interested in the French Immersion program.
March 29-April 6 School Closed for Spring Break. April 6 is a Professional Day for
Teachers
April 1 Transfer period ends for 5th Grade French Immersion Students
Parents interested in your child attending the French Immersion
continuation program at SSIMS must fill out a Change of School
Assignment form (COSA) before April 1, 2010. The form must be
obtained from your home middle school, and submitted to the principal
at that school.
April 7 PTA Meeting 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
April 10 Show your school spirit and come out to support them!
Our very own Solar Flares Spring Dance Team will be performing in
the 2010 National Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington D.C.,
starting in front of the National Archives Building from 10:00 am to
12:00 pm! The event will be shown on ABC Channel 7.
April 23 The PTA will host a Silent Auction to benefit Sligo Creek Elementary's
10 Year Anniversary Gift Fund
April 26 Kindergarten Performance for Parents of the Musical "Lemonade"
from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
May 4 PTA Meeting 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
May 18 Spring Concert for Students, Parents, and Staff. Chorus, Dance
Teams and Orff Ensemble from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
May 27-28 Kindergarten Orientation for children starting school in August 2010
