Boundary Changes to Sligo Creek Elementary School
The Montgomery County Board of Education has concluded a boundary study to review the boundaries for Sligo Creek, East Silver Spring, Takoma Park and Piney Branch elementary schools and their attendant middle schools. The boundary changes will take effect in the 2010-11 school year.
The goal is to relieve over-utilization at Sligo Creek E.S. with the help of two large additions at East Silver Spring E.S. and Takoma Park E.S. The reduction in enrollment at Sligo Creek E.S. will come only from the Academy program.

Who will be affected?
The change of school boundaries will affect all Academy students who are currently in grades K-3 residing in Takoma Park (zip code 20912). Students currently in K, 2nd, & 3rd grade will change to a new school in the fall of 2010 and students currently in 1st grade will change to a new school in the fall of 2011.
Our Voices Were Heard:
The final boundary assignment reflects overall efforts to help preserve two classes per grade in the Academy program of our school. The decision followed a county-led boundary study in consultation with concerned school PTAs and local communities.
A huge shout-out to Sligo Creek volunteers who participated in the Boundary Study, as well as the many parents who called, e-mailed, and provided personal testimony to ensure that the academic integrity of our school is preserved.
